Open Joint-Stock Commercial AsiaUniversalBank was incorporated on August 22, 1997; commercial banking license # 039 issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic on January 12, 1998. The previous name of the Bank – International Business Bank – was replaced due to change in ownership in 2000.
The list of the founders of the Bank includes both individuals and legal entities – residents and non-residents of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Mikhail Anatolyevich Nadel. The Chief Executive Officer is Nurdin Akenovich Abdrazakov.
1997
- The Bank was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic on August 22, 1997.
1998
- The Bank received commercial banking license # 039 issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
1999
- AUB became the first financial institution to execute swap and forward operations at the Kyrgyz market;
- The Bank introduced Internet-banking services;
- AUB instituted its Student Nominal Scholarship Program.
2000
- AUB launched its official website www.aub.kg;
- AUB began offering its services in English;
- An operational office was established in the Issyk-Kul Region;
- The previous name of the Bank – International Business Bank – was replaced due to change in ownership.
2001
- The number of relationships with correspondent banks reached 50;
- AUB started servicing international Visa and MasterCard cads and offered acquiring service;
- AUB established the first in the country round-the-clock call center for supporting of acquiring points and plastic card holders;
- AUB joined "Anelik" money remittance service;
- The Bank relocated its headquarters to 187, Toktogula Street, Bishkek.
2002
- AUB established two branches and a representative office in Riga (Latvia);
- The Bank obtained its first international reward;
2003
- AUB began offering Chinese-language services;
- AUB increased the number of its international correspondent relationships to 121;
- AUB joined SWIFT network;
- The Bank received four international awards.
2004
- AUB took the first place among the banks of the Kyrgyz Republic according to the amount of its paid-up authorized capital stock, which constituted 300 million soms;
- AUB implemented comprehensive rebranding program;
- AUB started launching a new customer service program, following the “one-stop-shop” principle;
- The correspondent network expanded significantly to include such prominent banks as the Bank of China and Nordea Bank Finland Plc;
- AUB became one of the largest tax payers in the country and contributed over 10.5 million soms to the state budget;
- AUB acted as the General Sponsor of the First Bishkek International Banking Conference;
- AUB received three international awards;
- AUB was recognized as "Bank of the Year" by the Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Trade and the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange;
- According to the results of the year, Nurdin Abdrazakov, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, became the winner of the international contest "Manager of the Year in Banking – 2004" in the "Dynamic Development" nomination;
2005
- AUB became the first bank in the Kyrgyz Republic to establish a dedicated Control and Compliance Department;
- AUB continued to expand its correspondent network, establishing partnerships with such acknowledged global leaders as American Express Bank Ltd, UBS AG, and Agricultural Bank of China;
- AUB established a representative office in Kiev, Ukraine;
- The Bank launched a new official web-site in 4 languages (English, Chinese, Kyrgyz and Russian);
- A project Golden Fund of Kyrgyzstan aimed at rendering comprehensive support to the nation’s artistic and cultural heritage was launched;
- AUB received two national and two international awards;
2006
- AUB became the first company of the Kyrgyz Republic to receive an international credit rating from Moody’s agency;
- AUB established a representative office in Almaty, Kazakhstan;
- AUB became a member of the International Chamber of Commerce;
- AUB launched a range of mortgage lending programs;
- AUB joined “Unistream” money remittance service;
- AUB was noted by “The Asian Banker” magazine amongst the top hundred Asian retail banks;
- The Bank started publishing the corporate magazine - "AUB-Info";
- AUB obtained three International rewards;
- AUB’s net profit more than doubled compared to 2005 and constituted 109.8 million soms;
- AUB’s funding for charitable projects, amounting to more than 7.7 million soms, contributed to various social and cultural causes;
2007
- The professional structure of the Board of Directors was consolidated: Michael Mered, the former Chairman of the International Monetary Fund in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as R. Dole and J. Bennett Johnston, ex-senators from the USA, were elected to this governing body in 2007.
- The Bank celebrated its 10th anniversary
- AUB developed a new retail strategy and started its realization; in 2007 within the framework of this strategy the Bank started expanding of its branch offices network, launched some new consumer lending programs and started up “Master of payments” self-service terminals network;
- A new up-to-date office of “AUB-Center” branch was opened at the address # 80/1 Moskovskaya Street;
- IV Bishkek International Banking Conference was successfully held with AUB general sponsorship;
- AUB became the first one among all CIS banks that had successfully passed a certification test according to the international standards of the Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) - ISO/IEC 27001:2005;
- One more world-known financial institution – Citibank –joined AUB’s correspondent bank network;
- Over the course of the year the Bank was given four international awards by the leading foreign financial editions: “Euromoney”, “Global Finance”, “The Banker”, it also got two national awards – from Banking Union of Kyrgyzstan and “AKIpress” informational agency;
- Along with all Bank’s showing improved according to the totals of the year, the Bank’s net profit (212.8 million soms), the credit portfolio (1.7 billion soms) and the total capital (1.2 billion soms) almost doubled the similar showing comparing to the year of 2006;
- In 2007 AUB rendered a financial support to 55 social and cultural projects amounted to over 20 million soms.
